SUMMARY

Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. Satisfies Somic America’s Quality goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost and responsibility.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Assists in development and maintenance of TS-16949 compliant quality system.
  • Discusses, investigates, and resolves quality issues raised by customers.
  • Reports development of processes for new products to customers.
  • Reports proposals for planned changes for existing products to customers.
  • Assists Quality Specialist in maintenance of calibration system.
  • Assists SA’s Purchasing Agent(s) to develop, implement, and maintain suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier quality status.
  • Discuss, investigate, and bring to light issues with SA’s supplier base, as well as conduct supplier audits and visits throughout the year.
  • Issues Opportunity for System Improvement (OSI).
  • Assists in resolving internal quality issues while working with production and production engineering to find best solutions.
  • Reviews PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) submissions from suppliers to determine if set specifications are met.
  • Maintains and provides a safe work area and work in a safe manner.
  • Submit suggestions for improvements.
  • Must be willing to travel – domestic and international.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year college or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

 

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

AUTHORITY LEVEL

  • The employee has authority in the following areas: shutdown of any equipment for safety and reliability issues; evacuate plant in emergency situations.
